News

Hello! Sorry for being away for so long and I'm so glad to be back here again. Below are some of the works exhibited at the Senior Show.

The Long Leap (Selected for Best of Ringling Show)

I chose to illustrate this article - For young grads, it's long leap from college to career and I couldn't help agreeing more with the long leap. I'm sure many of us who just graduated this year, felt this way too. Oh yes, I've officially graduated! The future is a little scary but definitely exciting. Somehow, I have a feeling that I might move to New York. We will see.

All I know is to stay grateful, have faith and keep on trying no matter what.

Both alphabets, E and S were created for Pancakes and Pickles Book by Baron & Sy Schimberg, for young children. This book was a voluntary project set to raise funds for the Miracle League of Manasota, a non-profit organization that gives the opportunity to people with disabilities a chance to play baseball. I'm happy to be able to contribute to this good cause, along with other great illustrators and friends. More info about the book can be found here.

I really had so much fun with the above project where you could randomly doodle abstract shapes without any intention. It is like tipping a bottle of ink accidentally across your paper and turning that blotch into a creative piece of art. The above reflects what I had come up with. The abstract shapes were created with Corel Painter's brushes and Alchemy.

That's all, folks. Thanks for checking it out! :)

I played one too

Attended the orchestra band performance in support of my sister and I got attracted by the huge tuba that I had to doodle-sketch it.

overheard at pathlight

Web design done for Overheard blog for a client, Pathlight School. The doodle used in Overheard Blog is done by one of the students at Pathlight. I got to say while looking through their doodles, they are really interesting, seeing what's going on in their thoughts. Sweet. Do check out the blog as some of the overheard blog entries are quite amusing.

Rejected doodles which I like.

A New Start

dawdledoodledo[dot] blogspot [dot] com

New blog, New start. This shall be a blog for doodles and artwork. I had been dilly-dallying over a week as to whether I should set up this doodleblog. Congratulations for battling all the hand-coding bits and bits, here and there after three bouts of tasting free three different templates provided before settling on the forestgreen layout. Greeny foresty browny woods feeling. I'm loving it.

Doodling is fun. A vivid memory of the childhood times where mother would give us sets of Crayola crayons, colour pencils, free SIA crayons, drawing blocks and we would draw and draw as we like. Once, we scribbled on the walls secretly with fanciful crayons. The most memorable moment would be where my siblings and I sat on the floor in a circle with a single piece of paper in front of us. A new entrance was drawn starting with my brother and I would continue from where he stopped at, creating another path with gadgets pointing down at the person. This was followed on by my sister who continued it, extending the path in a different angle, adding sharp razors and special devices which would send electric shocks when a person walked through. This went on with the next round continuously. Looking back on it, we must have played sonic games too much. :)

Another favorite childhood memory was that my mom would encourage us to draw animals when she brought us to the zoo. Zebra. Giraffe. Kangaroo. It was really fun and it indeed felt wonderful being a child full of innocence, imagination and wild thoughts. Once in a lifetime as a child. Just a few hours ago, I was viewing the Children Arts' exhibition "Boxed Out!" at Jendela (Visual Arts Space), Esplanade. Kudos to talented children. So do go for that exhibition which will be on till 30th Oct, free admission. Creative, colourful and impressive artworks!

The past selected doodles and illustrations (mostly this year) I could retrieve so far:
