One day, I had dinner with the view that showed me a great variety of passersby walking quickly to the other side. Most of them were dressed fashionably and it was quite a thrill to sketch quickly, capturing as much as I can and a little bit of memory before one by one disappeared out of the view. I really had fun with this one and feel like I could do more. Thanks, NYC.

Recent Experience
Pretty passing view of nature during the train ride on the way to Rochester, NY for DeafNation Expo.
The campus at RIT is beautiful with all nature around, especially tall trees with different colors and shapes of leaves.

Mostly, Subway Sketches
I couldn't help observing such a rich variety of people, their facial features, shapes and fashion during the train rides. I love being able to get around easily by subway and it feels like I'm a city girl at heart. I came from a city where I grew up on taking train and bus that I didn't feel the need to learn how to drive. Maybe, I should learn how to drive in case of emergency? Maybe.
Passing View in New York State
Dreamy doodles of passing beautiful view of nature during the late afternoon long bus ride back to New York City last month.

Yosemite

I was mesmerized by the gorgeous outlook of the lofty mountains, vast sea and the dancing dapples of sunlight and shadow through the tall trees. I was sitting in the front where I sketched quickly almost blindly while my awesome Dad drove up the winding roads, passing by all the soothing views.

That grandeur feeling of watching the humongous waterfall that appeared a tad tiny far away. Next time, I shall go up closer to the point of standing at near the base of the waterfall so I could feel the vibration and try to hear the sound of the waterfall. The visit to the Yosemite National Park is absolutely my most favorite part of the family vacation.

Little bits
This year, we are given the choice to choose between the portfolio and thesis for the upcoming Senior Show on April 27. I chose portfolio and thus, I had been working on different pieces at almost the same time.
For now, some little bits of new works and I can't reveal them yet in order to keep the suspense for the big show.
35 days to deadline.
43 days to have a meal with my parents and sister whom I haven't hugged for 214 days. Stay strong, Angeline. It is going to be a huge chapter of life.
On a side note, I would like to share with what Scott Bakal wrote in my sketchbook recently:
"Don't worry so much about what your art looks like. Just be yourself and let your stories and ideas flow from you. The art that comes out of it will be YOU."
Indeed. It was nice to have him over at Ringling College to tell his story. Thank you, Mr. Bakal!

Peranakan Silence Show
Today is the opening of the Peranakan Silence Show and I thought it would be apt to show the process of the artworks done for that show.

Some old sketches during the train rides
Making up for the broken links in the old posts dated in 2008:
which is why I always enjoy train rides and I do miss them. This, a reason why I never learn to drive, which probably isn't right.

RWF & KFUN
Last weekend saw me travel over 5 hours' car ride with my good friend, Marissa to attend the Right Whale Festival at Jacksonville. Although it was pretty chilly especially the icy wind blasting often on everyone, it was definitely an enjoyable experience - hearing their educational talks on protecting the right whales, bottlenose dolphins and manatees, meeting awesome people, strolling from booth to booth, and interacting with the kids. It had definitely left me thinking about the human threat to the animals and it was appalling to know that the dolphin was fed with batteries. Humans. How long can this world survive?
I got side-tracked.

Sketches can be so pretty and something simple can really help the non-profit organizations.

Joy to the World
During the summer in July, my darling nephew, Keon, the first child of a new generation arrived at such a perfect timing! I was able to cuddle him and be there for his one month celebration with my family. Oh joy. Portrait of Keon done in watercolor and ink as a congratulatory gift to my bro and sis-in-law.

My First post of sketches on Instagram
Recently, I started using Instagram and my friend encouraged me to post up my artworks on Instagram as she explained it was the fastest way to get your works around. I was hesitant about it due to the time involved on top of twitter, facebook, blogspot and bookmarked links' news. It is crazy how fast the media is expanding, how it is challenging us to manage our time effectively and how social media shapes our lives increasingly.
"Everyone is now a reporter, and that's an empowering feeling when the pen is mightier than the sword. Social media will continue to impact society, and when all the variables are optimum, will change the world from time to time with public sentiment as a driving force." - Lisa Mason

First Urban SketchWalk in SG
Last Saturday morning saw me join a group of urban sketchers for the first time. It was nice to be around them, get to know them and see the others' sketches in their own voices.
